We love how many exciting circus events and activities this city has to offer! Knowing there are more great things going on than we can post is a nice problem to have. In fact, the second-hardest part of writing these websites is trying to keep up with everything. (Post your events
as early as you can, and we'll publish them as soon as we can.)
The hardest part is needing to limit our focus. This month, we want to give a special Cascade of News shout-out to two local websites that offer completely different and interesting variety arts content:
- VaudeVisuals.com, A photography and video blog of the eccentric performing variety arts by photographer Jim Moore. Jim's the photographer who was with Philippe Petit during his historic World Trade Center wire walk, and Jim continues to document the city's fascinating and funny variety arts performers.
- Travelanche, a web log for Trav S. D. Trav S. D. (aka Travis Stewart) is the author of No Applause, Just Throw Money, The Book That Made Vaudeville Famous, a playwright, and a vaudeville producer (among other roles). Check out his videos on the Legends of Vaudeville and his modern vaudeville videos.
Between those sites and ours, you should have plenty to keep your mind occupied when you're taking a break from exercising your circus body. If anyone would like to volunteer to create and maintain a list of circus websites, we would be happy to expand our Resources
to include it.
Keep flipping–yourselves and your props!
