Seven Sins Feb 14-Oct 31
Posted January 29, 2020
Company XIV proudly presents the world premiere of Seven Sins, conceived, choreographed, and directed by Drama Desk Award-nominee Austin McCormick.

Austin McCormick, creator of the critically acclaimed productions Nutcracker Rouge and Queen of Hearts, invites you to the world premiere of Seven Sins, a Baroque burlesque re-imagining of the creation myth of Adam, Eve, and the fall of man. Immerse your senses in an elegant, hedonistic dreamscape of XIV’s sinfully lush mélange of dance, circus, magic, music, and over-the-top design. Behold a cavalcade of tempting treats and decadent feats, delectable nibbles, and bespoke cocktails inspired by the seven deadly sins served by the beauties of Company XIV. The temptation begins Valentine’s Day. The show contains partial nudity; 21 and over admitted.

The cast features Cemiyon Barber, Danielle Gordon, Josh Hobbs, Amy Jo Jackson, Nicholas Katen, Pretty Lamé, Lilin, Troy Lingelbach, Nolan McKew, Demi Remick, Marcy Richardson, Scott Schneider, Emily Stockwell, Chanel Stone, Hannah Straney, Sam Urdang, and Marcos Antonio Vasquez.

The production team includes Zane Pihlstrom (costume and scenic design), Jeanette Yew lighting design), LEXXE (original music), Sarah Cimino (makeup design) and Kristina Vnook (production stage manager). Cocktails by Austin McCormick.

Company XIV fuses high and low-brow entertainment in sensual, decadent spectacles, re-imagining classical ballets and fairy tales for contemporary audiences.

The New York Times calls Company XIV’s critically acclaimed shows “sexy-glamorous, scintillating & decadent” works of “dazzling genius.” Time Out New York says they’re the “perfect hot date” and Condé Nast Traveler calls them “playful, naughty, and so sensational.” They’re “an incredible feast for the senses” raves ABC-TV’s Kelly Ripa. Since 2006, Company XIV has been hailed as a New York Times Critics’ Pick, Time Out New York Critics’ Pick, and New York Magazine Critics’ Pick and was a Drama Desk Awards nominee for Unique Theatrical Experience.

Théâtre XIV is a boutique, 175-seat cabaret venue located at 383 Troutman Street in the heart of graffiti alley in Bushwick, Brooklyn. This converted warehouse invokes Versailles decadence spliced with Prohibition dance halls and features scantily clad performer-bartenders who pop champagne, pour Brooklyn-crafted absinthe, mix speakeasy cocktails and serve VIP patrons.

Austin McCormick (Founder and Artistic Director) created Company XIV in 2006 wowing critics and audiences alike with a unique blend of circus, Baroque dance, ballet, opera, live music and lavish design. His recent credits include choreography for the Metropolitan Opera’s Rusalka and Samson et Dalila, Chicago Lyric Opera, Canadian Opera Company, The Juilliard School, Guggenheim Works in Process, Carnegie Hall’s La Serenissima Festival, Gotham Chamber Opera, the Kennedy Center, Theater for a New Audience, Houston Grand Opera and Opera Columbus. He is a graduate of the Juilliard School and the Conservatory of Baroque Dance. The New York Times calls McCormick’s work “inventive and brainy, a high-entertainment mix of music-hall, cabaret, theater and dance.”
