Hiring Circus Instructors in Boston Starts Sep

The Commonwealth Circus Center is a new circus school. Our mission is to build an inclusive community where students of any age, experience level, and ability can come together to learn self expression, movement arts, and healthy risk-taking through the joy of circus! We will be partnering with Circus Up, a local social circus organization, to create a space focused on inclusive community through the arts. We plan to open our doors on September 4, 2017. We are currently hiring experienced, enthusiastic, community-minded circus instructors for youth and adult programming.

Job Descriptions

Adult circus instructor: We are hiring responsible, experienced, and fun circus teachers! Applicants should be available to teach four or more classes per week. Adult classes at Commonwealth are 60–90 minutes long. If you are a circus teacher interested in being a team player in a community-driven environment we encourage you to apply. Preference for applicants with two or more years of teaching experience in circus arts. Preference for those instructors able and willing to also teach in our youth program.

Commonwealth Circus Center is hiring instructors for the following disciplines: aerial silks, aerial rope, static and single-point trapeze, aerial hoop, trampoline/mini-tramp, juggling/manipulation, floor acrobatics/tumbling, partner acrobatics/hand-to-hand, contortion, hula hoop, handbalancing, Cyr wheel, dance, stilt walking, fitness.

Youth circus instructor:
We are hiring dynamic and experienced youth circus educators. Youth classes at Commonwealth are 50–75 minutes long. Applicants should be available to teach two or more youth classes per week. Circus teachers interested in being a team player in a community-driven environment are encouraged to apply! Applicants should have at least two years of teaching experience in youth circus arts and should have strong classroom management ability. Preference will be given to applicants with professional experience in child development, child psychology, and elementary, preschool, or adolescent education. Experience and willingness to teach in our adult program is a plus! Our youth program is focused on providing a multi-disciplinary foundational circus experience for all youth. From classes for babies (and their parents!) to classes for teens, we will foster a non-competitive athletic learning environment where students will explore physical theater and circus.

We are hiring youth instructors to teach circus classes that incorporate the following disciplines: aerials for kids: silks, rope, static and singl-point trapeze, hoop, sling, trampoline/mini-tramp, juggling/manipulation/hula hoop, floor acrobatics/tumbling, basic partner acrobatics, stretching, handbalancing, clowning/physical theater and dance, balance: rola bola, globe walking, stilt walking.
